A SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

A Transport Assessment is being undertaken, which will be supported by a Travel Plan, to consider the impact from the development on the local highway network and to encourage use of public transport, walking and cycling. This will be assessed and reviewed by Guildford Borough Council and Surrey County Council’s Highways department following the submission of the application. Any necessary improvements to the local highways caused by this development will be funded through this scheme to mitigate the impact of the new homes locally and ensure that the plans for Walnut Tree Close can be accommodated.

Vehicular access to the development will be from Walnut Tree Close. A basement car park is proposed to accommodate up to 84 vehicles for residents, in addition to street-level parking bays for visitors.

The site is ideally situated to encourage sustainable travel, with the town centre less than a mile from the site. It is also close to local schools and educational establishments, major employers, shops, leisure facilities, and the town’s attractions. It is also a short walk to the train station and benefits from excellent public transport access.

There will be a secure cycle parking space for every apartment.

The development will include an improved pedestrian route linking Walnut Tree Close and the river towpath.
